Sensex trades down 73 pts; Infosys plunges 7%
Indian markets dropped on Thursday erasing earlier gains. At 10.51a.m., the Sensex was trading down 72.99 points or 0.45% at 16,102.87 with 10 components falling. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading lower by 12.35 points or 0.25% at 4,848.60 with 16 components falling.
The 30-share benchmark index, BSE Sensex opened with a decline of 58.67 points or 0.36% at 16,117.19, while the broad based NSE Nifty started with a fall of 20 points or 0.41%, at 4,840.95.
Tata Consultancy Services contributed fall of 34.57 points in the Sensex. It was followed by Wipro (9.58 points), Reliance Industries (9.05 points), Mahindra & Mahindra (3.18 points) and Hero Motocorp (0.43 points).
However, I C I C I Bank contributed rise of 16.11 points in the Sensex. It was followed by State Bank Of India (10.18 points), Larsen & Toubro (9.17 points), H D F C Bank (9.08 points) and Housing Development Finance Corporation (7.47 points).
Major gainers in the 30-share index were State Bank Of India (1.67%), I C I C I Bank (1.63%), NTPC (1.48%), Larsen & Toubro (1.22%), Bharat Heavy Electricals (1.15%), and Tata Power Company (0.97%).
On the other hand, Infosys Technologies (6.93%), Tata Consultancy Services (4.06%), Wipro (3.05%), Mahindra & Mahindra (0.82%), Reliance Industries (0.55%), and Jaiprakash Associates (0.35%) were the major losers in the Sensex.
Mid & Small-cap Space
The BSE Mid and small caps outperformed their larger counterparts gaining 0.63% and 0.32% respectively.
The major gainers in the BSE Midcap were A2Z Maintenance & Engineering Services (3.75%), Anant Raj Industries (2.72%), Alok Industries (0.27%), Alstom Projects India (0.22%) and Amtek Auto (0.09%).
The major gainers in the BSE Smallcap were Action Construction Equipment (3.68%), Trident (3.45%), Provogue (India) (0.38%), INEOS ABS (India) (0.33%) and Aanjaneya Lifecare (0.06%).http://www.goldennifty.com
