Sensex down 122 points;
Goldennifty says:
Sensex continues to trade in the negative terrain on the back of profit booking seen in index pivotals. IT and teck stocks led the downfall.
At 2.30 p.m., the Sensex was trading down 122.52 points or 0.76% at 16,053.34 with 9 components falling. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading lower by 19.65 points or 0.40% at 4,841.30 with 17 components falling.
The 30-share benchmark index, BSE Sensex opened with a decline of 58.67 points or 0.36% at 16,117.19, while the broad based NSE Nifty started with a fall of 20.00 points or 0.41%, at 4,840.95.
Tata Consultancy Services contributed fall of 37.3 points in the Sensex. It was followed by Reliance Industries (18.16 points), Wipro (8.97 points), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (4.07 points) and Larsen & Toubro (3.64 points).
However, State Bank Of India contributed rise of 13.8 points in the Sensex. It was followed by H D F C Bank (9.47 points), Housing Development Finance Corporation (9.06 points), I T C (6.97 points) and I C I C I Bank (4.61 points).
Major gainers in the 30-share index were State Bank Of India (2.27%), Sterlite Industries (India) (1.84%), Hindalco Industries (1.81%), Coal India (1.75%), Jaiprakash Associates (1.67%), and D L F (1.47%).
On the other hand, Infosys Technologies (7.56%), Tata Consultancy Services (4.39%), Wipro (2.86%), Reliance Industries (1.10%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (0.75%), and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (0.64%) were the major losers in the Sensex.
