Sensex pares some gains; Mid and small-caps outperform

Indian markets pared some of its earlier gains towards closing on Friday. At 2.56 pm, the Sensex was trading up 81.80 points or 0.51% at 16,119.31 with 19 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 27.85 points or 0.58% at 4,859.10 with 33 components gaining.
The 30-share benchmark index, BSE Sensex opened with a gain of 107.06 points or 0.67% at 16,144.57, while the broad based NSE Nifty started with a rise of 30.70 points or 0.64%, at 4,861.95.
Sensex Movers
Larsen & Toubro contributed rise of 25.76 points in the Sensex. It was followed by Tata Steel (20.36 points), Bharti Airtel (13.25 points), I C I C I Bank (11.82 points) and I T C (10.57 points).
However, Housing Development Finance Corporation contributed fall of 15 points in the Sensex. It was followed by Infosys (9.3 points), Tata Consultancy Services (8.42 points), Reliance Industries (8.25 points) and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (4.27 points).
Biggest gainers in the 30-share index were Tata Steel (6.79%), Coal India (5.35%), Larsen & Toubro (3.52%), Jindal Steel & Power (3.11%), D L F (2.71%), and NTPC (2.61%).
On the other hand, G A I L (India) (3.05%), Bajaj Auto (2.95%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (1.68%), Hero Honda Motors (1.62%), Maruti Suzuki India (1.43%), and Housing Development Finance Corporation (1.31%) were the major losers in the Sensex.
Mid & Small-cap Space
The BSE Mid and small caps outperformed their larger counterparts gaining 0.86% and 1.22% respectively.

The major gainers in the BSE Midcap were Alstom Projects India (4.69%), A I A Engineering (2%), A B G Shipyard (1.11%), Aban Offshore (0.31%) and CORE Education and Technologies (0.08%).

The major gainers in the BSE Smallcap were Adhunik Metaliks (3.66%), Trident (2.49%), A B G Infralogistics (2.22%), Action Construction Equipment (0.6%) and Provogue (India) (0.39%).       www.goldennifty.com
