Sensex down 52 pts

Indian markets dropped on Monday erasing earlier gains. At 11.40 a.m., the Sensex was trading down 52.11 points or 0.32% at 16,102.51 with 20 components falling. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading lower by 24.30 points or 0.50% at 4,841.70 with 39 components falling.
The 30-share benchmark index, BSE Sensex opened with a decline of 67.88 points or 0.42% at 16,086.74, while the broad based NSE Nifty started with a fall of 22 points or 0.45%, at 4,844.
Reliance Industries contributed fall of 30.55 points in the Sensex. It was followed by H D F C Bank (19.13 points), Housing Development Finance Corporation (13.72 points), Larsen & Toubro (12.34 points) and Hindustan Unilever (8.72 points).
However, Infosys contributed rise of 25.02 points in the Sensex. It was followed by Tata Consultancy Services (15.83 points), Bharti Airtel (8.31 points), I T C (7.55 points) and I C I C I Bank (3.54 points).
Major gainers in the 30-share index were Tata Consultancy Services (2.06%), Infosys Technologies (1.65%), Bharti Airtel (1.55%), Maruti Suzuki India (1.31%), Tata Power Company (1.30%), and Bharat Heavy Electricals (0.79%).
On the other hand, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (2.21%), Reliance Industries (1.93%), H D F C Bank (1.81%), Hindustan Unilever (1.71%), Larsen & Toubro (1.59%), and Tata Motors (1.46%) were the major losers in the Sensex.
Mid & Small-cap Space
The BSE Midcap index was at 5559.08 down by 23.26 points or by 0.42%.
The major losers were
Aban Offshore (2.37%), Alok Industries (1.55%), Amara Raja Batteries (0.75%), Allcargo Logistics (0.46%) and Alfa-Laval (India) (0.04%).
