Sensex flat with positive bias at open

Indian equities continued to gain in early trade for the fourth day on Friday. The 30-share benchmark index, BSE Sensex opened flat with a rise of 12.40 points or 0.07% at 17,444.25, while the broad based NSE Nifty began flat with a gain of 2.20 points or 0.04%, at 5,272.10.

At 9.18 a.m., the Sensex was trading up 11.67 points or 0.07% at 17,443.52 with 16 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 11.55 points or 0.22% at 5,281.45 with 23 components gaining. 

Sensex Movers

Bharti Airtel contributed rise of 12.62 points in the Sensex. It was followed by Housing Development Finance Corporation (3.66 points), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (2.74 points), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (1.69 points) and Hindustan Unilever (1.52 points).
 
However, State Bank Of India contributed fall of 12.25 points in the Sensex. It was followed by Reliance Industries (9.89 points), I T C (9.83 points), Tata Steel (5.95 points) and Tata Motors (5.42 points).

Major gainers in the 30-share index were Bharti Airtel (2.06%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (1.02%), Coal India (0.89%), Cipla (0.85%), G A I L (India) (0.68%), and Bharat Heavy Electricals (0.60%).
 
On the other hand, Sterlite Industries (India) (2.26%), Hindalco Industries (1.65%), State Bank Of India (1.51%), Tata Steel (1.40%), Tata Motors (0.95%), and I T C (0.55%) were the biggest losers in the Sensex
