Sensex rises 81 points
Indian equities are trading positive in noon trade on Friday. Realty and power stocks led the advance. At 12.45a.m., the Sensex was trading up 81.19 points or 0.51% at 16,118.70 with 20 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 27.10 points or 0.56% at 4,858.35 with 36 components gaining.
The 30-share benchmark index, BSE Sensex opened with a gain of 107.06 points or 0.67% at 16,144.57, while the broad based NSE Nifty started with a rise of 30.70 points or 0.64%, at 4,861.95.
Larsen & Toubro contributed rise of 16.69 points in the Sensex. It was followed by Bharti Airtel (14.16 points), I C I C I Bank (11.55 points), Tata Motors (10.7 points) and State Bank Of India (9.18 points).
However, Housing Development Finance Corporation contributed fall of 10.84 points in the Sensex. It was followed by Infosys (10.58 points), Tata Consultancy Services (9.2 points), Hero Motocorp (2.09 points) and Hindalco Industries (1.99 points).
Biggest gainers in the 30-share index were Coal India (3.87%), Tata Power Company (3.44%), D L F (3.16%), Tata Steel (2.76%), Bharti Airtel (2.62%), and Tata Motors (2.45%).
On the other hand, G A I L (India) (2.22%), Tata Consultancy Services (1.09%), Hindalco Industries (1.02%), Hero Honda Motors (0.98%), Housing Development Finance Corporation (0.95%), and Infosys Technologies (0.62%) were the major losers in the Sensex.
Mid & Small-cap Space
The BSE Mid and small caps outperformed their larger counterparts gaining 1.18% and 1.55% respectively.
The major gainers in the BSE Midcap were Alstom Projects India (3.84%), A I A Engineering (3.35%), A B G Shipyard (1.12%), Aban Offshore (0.98%) and CORE Education and Technologies (0.56%).
The major gainers in the BSE Smallcap were Adhunik Metaliks (4.39%), Trident (3.69%), Reliance MediaWorks (2.73%), Provogue (India) (0.78%) and Action Construction Equipment (0.3%). www.goldennifty.com
