NSE STOCK MARKET OPENING NEWS


Markets may open flat(9.15AM)

Indian equities are likely to open flat on Thursday, Jan. 12, 2012. SGX Nifty is trading at 4,880 (9.15AM), 6.5 points higher than Wednesday closing of 4873.5.
Most Asian stocks fell, with a regional benchmark index dropping for the first time in four days, as weaker Japanese exports added to evidence Europe`s crisis is crimping global demand. Chinese companies gained as slower inflation added to speculation the government will further ease monetary policy. Japanese benchmark index Nikkei 225 fell 59.58 points, or 0.71%, to trade at 8,388.30.
Oil prices fell to USD 100.87 a barrel Wednesday in international markets. Benchmark crude fell by USD 1.37 to finish at USD 100.87 a barrel in New York. Brent crude, which is used to price foreign oil varieties that are imported by U.S. refineries, fell by USD 1.04 to end at USD 112.24 per barrel in London.
US stocks finished the day roughly flat, as concerns over a weakening economy in Europe gave investors pause after the market`s recent gains. The Dow Jones Industrial Average declined 13.02 points, or 0.10%, to 12,449.45.
European stocks fell from a one-week high as Fitch Ratings said the European Central Bank must do more to prevent debt crisis from spreading and a report indicated the German economy is shrinking. UK`s benchmark index FTSE 100 declined 25.88 points, or 0.45%, to end at 5,670.82.
In the spot market, the Dollar Index decreased 0.001% to 81.26. It touched a high of 81.32 and a low of 81.24 after opening at 81.24 (21:14 ET).
World commodity prices fell on Wednesday with the decrease in Reuters Jefferies CRB Index by 0.58%.
